Stacey Young

Stacey is an accomplished leader dedicated to advancing equity and fostering community growth in Decatur, Illinois. A proud graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Ms. Young earned her bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and safety in 2002 and later completed her Master of Business Administration at Norwich University in 2014.

Ms. Young’s professional career began with Ameren Illinois in 1997 and spans 28 years. Her determination and visionary approach led her through a series of promotions: first to Community Relations Coordinator in 2008, then to Supervisor in 2014, and subsequently to Manager in 2020. In 2023, she embraced a new challenge as a leader of Equity and Strategic Initiatives within Ameren’s Clean Energy Department, where she oversees initiatives aimed at making clean energy accessible and affordable for all.

In parallel with her corporate achievements, Ms. Young has been a steadfast public servant. She was elected Commissioner of the Decatur Park District in 2015 and re-elected in 2020, with her current term extending to 2027. In this capacity, she collaborates with fellow commissioners and staff to shape strategic policies and enhance recreational opportunities for residents of Decatur. 

Ms. Young’s commitment to economic development is evident through her appointment by Governor J.B. Pritzker to the State of Illinois Enterprise Zone Board in 2021, where she plays a pivotal role in supporting business growth and revitalization efforts. Her dedication to community enrichment is reflected in her ongoing volunteerism, including her involvement with the Richland Community College Foundation, and mentorship programs such DPS 61 Prep Academy.

Ms. Young is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and actively participates in ministry at House of Miracles Pentecostal Church. Recognized as a 40 Under 40 honoree, she continues to inspire others through her professional excellence, integrity, and unwavering service to her community.

Ms. Young’s multifaceted leadership has left a lasting impact on both the corporate and civic landscapes of Decatur, and she remains committed to driving positive change for future generations.
