Justin Hamilton

Justin is entering his 17th year as an educator, and 13th year as a member of Decatur Public School District 61, serving as the African American Scholars Program Coordinator and Operation Calculus Coordinator at Eisenhower High School.  In addition, Justin holds the title of Instructor of Meteorology at Richland Community College.  

Prior to joining Decatur Public School District, Justin was the head Meteorology instructor at Elmhurst University.  With a focus on Mesoscale Forecasting and severe weather, Justin created new courses expanding the College of Geography.  In addition to his role as instructor, Justin also held the position of head meteorologist for Elmhurst University, providing daily weather forecasts via radio and coordinated several storm chases with metrology departments from Northern Illinois University and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Justin has a BS, Meteorology, Mathematics Minor from Valparaiso University and an MS, Atmospheric Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. 

A native of Chicago, Justin joined Decatur Public School District 61 in 2013 as a member of the Eisenhower High School staff.  Taking on the role of African American Scholars Program Coordinator and Operation Calculus Coordinator, Hampton’s skills as a mathematician and scientist are used to ensure measurable student performance outcomes through project-based learning experiences that tests academic and problem-solving abilities.  Justin has also taken on the role of mentor for dozens of Eisenhower students with the goal of providing exposure, insight and tutelage in preparation for post-secondary careers.
