An incredible launch event at the Decatur Public Library celebrated the unveiling of the “Honoring the Legacy: Black History in Illinois” traveling exhibit — a powerful collaboration between the African-American Cultural & Genealogical Society Museum of Illinois and Mt. Zion High School. Led by educator Rich Hansen, students from the African American Experience classes proudly showcased their original historical banners, bringing to life the stories, figures, and movements that shaped Illinois’ Black history. This meaningful project was made possible through support from the Untold Stories grant program, funded by the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation, Decatur Earthmover Credit Union, and The Lumpkin Family Foundation.
